That's funny, I thought Russel borrowed ideas from the 7th Day Adventists. I've also heard that mainstream Christianity rejected the JWs because they don't believe Jesus is God, yet the JWs claim just the opposite. Funny how JWs try to take credit for everything.

The "United" Watchtower Society
by Kenneson in"now i exhort you brothers, through the name of our lord jesus christ that you should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among you, but that you may be fittly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought.
" 2 cor.
1:10. according to the watchtower society one of the characteristics of apostasy is that it leads to division and fragmentation.

by DevonMcBride inthe following was posted on the watchtower observer message board by a first time poster at

it sounds far-fetched to me.

with complete defamation of character to discredit me to all interested civil parties.
To prevent communication to the HeadQuarters of Jehovah's Witnesses, Carlton fabricated a story that I went to New York and told the religious leaders I was the "faithful and discreet slave"I believe this part of the story. After all, the WTS do everything they can to discredit us "apostates."

What sister elder said at the book study..........ARRRGH
by Pistoff inhello all; my jaw dropped monday at the bookstudy.at the book study on monday, the only meeting i can stomach anymore, a statement was made that made my blood boil.
in asking the question "how does god protect us?
" sister elder answered this way: "well, one of the ways is like that abuse case that was filed in the (twin) cities, or wherever, (sic) it turns out it was thrown out because all the charges were false, or whatever.

It amazes me to no end how JWs adamantly refuse to listen to anything that doesn't directly come from the WTS. I'm fed up with the "We are right because we said so" mentality. Elitist jerks.

I'm with avengers on this one. I noticed JWs tend to have a flare for melodramatics.

I'm really sorry you are in so much pain right now. I know it will be hard to do, but if you really want to get away from him, then the best thing is to go ahead with it. The more you linger the worst things will get emotionally.
The big thing he say's is jws don't kill people and they are the only religon that goes by the bible and understand it.
This is the type of elitism exuded by the JWs that irks me. They think they are the only people with any morals or enough sense to read the bible. Like others have said, there are lots of people that don't kill people. Do the JWs honestly believe they are the only group that doesn't condone killing? I was really having doubts that leaving was the right thing, but reading this reaffirmed my beliefs.
I think it's time you gave your husband a wake up call.

There's a good chance I will never have children
by logansrun inyou know, i have the lingering suspicion i will never have children.
that's right, no little bradley's or bradettes to worry about.
here's my logic: i left the dub's two years ago (almost) and am still a couple years away from a degree.

But if I was really selfish I would have kids, pay them little attention and just do "my own thing."
Good point. I think a lot of parents, who shouldn't be parents in the first place, don't realize if they want to do "their own thing", then it's best not to have children in the first place. I don't think you are selfish; it sounds to me like you are simply thinking ahead.

Apostates are very disappointing. I just found the WTS is true about them.
by reason inyour conduct, attitude, manner of speech, avatar, all of these shows what sort of hearts you people have.
i can't feel the holy spirit operating in you people.
the first time i exposed myself to apostates, i was imagining matured people, more matured than the jw's.

Fine with me. I'm glad we got that little incident cleared up. You did have some good points; I should have read through the thread more carefully instead of just posting my thoughts.
I realize every community has nuances, like being in the barrel. Keep in mind that on every internet community I've been on, the blunder I made is actually very common. I've seen people inadvertently steal ideas countless times. That doesn't make it right, but it does happen from time to time.
Also, I'm glad the other posters don't think less of me because I was too lazy to read the entire thread. Thanks guys.

Well, I probably should apologize. I really meant no harm in making it sound like it was my idea. However, I think Farkel is making a mountain out of a mole hill. I doubt anybody is going to be seriously tramautaized because I inadvertantly stole an idea.
